22nd ranked Marquette knocked off 12th ranked Syracuse at the Bradley Center Monday night 74-71, winning their 24th straight game at home. Devonte Gardner poured in a career high 26 points on seven of seven shooting from the floor and 12 of 13 at the line. Gardner also pulled down eight rebounds. Syracuse went on a 15-2 run midway through the first half to build an 11 point lead but the Golden Eagles closed the gap to just three by halftime. Gardner then took over the game in the second half as Marquette paraded to the free throw line. The Golden Eagles dumped in 29 of 35 free throws, compared to just five of seven for the Orange. Marquette improves to 20-7 overall and 11-4 in the Big East Conference, tied for second with Louisville and just a half game behind league leading Georgetown. Next up for Marquette is a home date with 21st ranked Notre Dame on Saturday.
