MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WHBL) - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team went 11 minutes without making a basket at crunch time, and they lost at Minnesota Thursday night 58-53 in overtime. It was the third straight overtime game for the 19th-ranked Badgers. Ben Brust hit a jump shot with 6:11 left in regulation. And after that, the Badgers made only four free throws until Jared Berggren scored off a rebound with 10 seconds left in the extra period. In the meantime, the unranked Gophers came back from a six-point deficit – and Andre Hollins put Minnesota ahead for good with a three-pointer midway through the O-T. The Badgers were out-shot 37 to 30-percent on the night. Sam Dekker scored 14 points off the bench, and Ryan Evans had 11 rebounds as Wisconsin fell to 8-4 in the Big Ten and 17-8 overall. Hollins scored 21 for the Gophers, who got back to .500 in league play at 6-6. They’re now 18-7 overall. Wisconsin is now two games behind Big Ten co-leaders Michigan State and Indiana. The Badgers are in a three-way tie for third, as they get ready to host Ohio State on Sunday.
