Brewers 6, Cardinals 3

by

MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers scored five runs in the fourth inning Tuesday night to beat the Saint Louis Cardinals 6-3 at Miller Park.  The Brewers ended a five-game home losing streak to the Redbirds and the Crew again jumped out of last place in the National League Central, leading the Chicago Cubs by a half-game.  All 10 Brewer hits were singles.  Rookie Sean Halton got the start at first base in place of Juan Francisco, who struck out eight straight times in his previous two contests. Halton went 2-for-3 with three R-B-I’s and a run scored. Logan Schafer drove in the game-winner with a bloop single during the fourth inning rally. Kyle Lohse picked up his first win in four decisions against his old team. He gave up three runs on six hits in six innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Lohse is now 8-2 in his last 16 starts, and he improved his overall mark for the year to 9-8. Jim Henderson pitched the ninth for his 19th save. Lance Lynn took the loss for the Cardinals, giving up six runs – four earned – on nine hits in six frames. He’s now 13-7. Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer for Saint Louis, which lost for only the third time in 12 tries against Milwaukee this season. The second-place Cards fell to two games behind Pittsburgh in the N-L Central. The Brewers and Cardinals will wrap up their series this afternoon at Miller Park.  Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny faces Saint Louis right-hander Jake Westbrook.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 12:35.
