WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) - The former police officer charged with using a computer to facilitate a sex crime and sexual exploitation of a child took his own life Monday, and you might be surprised on how he did it.
Former Wisconsin Rapids officer Steven Lowe was found dead in his pickup truck Monday morning by Grand Rapids police. Wood County Deputy Coroner Gabe Holczer confirms Lowe took his own life. How? A common construction tool. Holczer says Lowe shot himself in the chest with a nail gun multiple times. Tuesday’s autopsy proved Lowe died between midnight and 4:00 a.m. Monday.
Investigators say Lowe pretended to be a teenage girl on the Internet to get naked pictures of boys. He resigned August 1st on the day he was arrested and suspended from the department. The next day, he posted twenty thousand dollars cash bond.
