MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - If you want your child to go to school away from the public school system, you better hurry.
Today is the deadline for parents to register for Wisconsin’s Parental Choice Program. You have until 4:00 p.m. to apply for the voucher program, and attend a private or charter school at little or no extra cost. That’s because the dollars that would have gone to the local public school would be sent to your school of choice.
Schools for the Choice program will be selected based on the number of applications received for the program. The state plans to accept five hundred more students across twenty-five school systems.
The voucher stays with the student until they leave the chosen school system.
Parents must sign up at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s website.
