RACINE, WI (WTAQ) - A 68-year-old Racine man has been ordered to be present in the courtroom when his trial starts Monday.
Wilbert Thomas is accused of beating and strangling a retired school teacher who was handing out quarters in a Laundromat in October 2010.
Thomas’ attorney told the judge his client wanted to watch the trial by closed-circuit television from the jail. He cited publicity about the case involving the death of Sandra Teichow.
The judge rejected the request, saying he wanted to avoid potential issues which could bring on an appeal at a future date.
