Clay Matthew is close, maybe even closer than Aaron Rodgers, to signing a new contract with the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Press Gazette reported Wednesday that Matthews, entering the final year of his original rookie contract, is closing in on a deal that could pay him up to 13 million dollars a year. Matthews has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons. Rodgers meanwhile, is on the brink of becomming the NFL's highest paid player, negotiating an extension that may reach 25 million dollars a season. Both players are represented by the same agent, David Dunn and reports say they would both like the deals completed before the Pack's off-season training program begins on April 15.
