ELKHART LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Road America at Elkhart Lake will host an historic series of auto races next year. For the first time, the Grand-Am Series will combine its event with the American Le Mans Series, and the Sheboygan County track was chosen as the first place for the merged program. The Grand-Am and Le Mans series plan to merge completely in 2014 and they plan to ease into the transition by having a few joint events next year. The Grand-Am Series will hold its Elkhart Lake event on Saturday, August 10th, and the Le Mans race will be held on Sunday, August 11th. The Le Mans event was announced a few months ago. The Grand Am Series has been at Road America for the last two years, and they held a joint weekend with NASCAR’s Nationwide Series before latching onto the Le Mans event.
