MIAMI, FL (WHBL) - Rickie Weeks hit a pair of two-run homers Wednesday night, as the Milwaukee Brewers topped the Marlins 8-5 in Miami. It was the Crew’s 13th win in their last 16 games, and they moved to within six-and-a-half games of the National League’s two Wild Card playoff spots. Wily Peralta won his first Major League start, giving up three runs in six-plus innings on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts. John Axford pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 25th save, and his second in as many nights. Nathan Eovaldi took the loss, giving up two runs in five innings. The Brewers jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the seventh inning on Weeks’ second homer and a two-run shot by Corey Hart. The Marlins scored four times in the home half of the seventh to get within one. Hart gave Milwaukee a little cushion with a two-run double in the eighth. Ex-Brewer Carlos Lee doubled for Miami’s only extra-base hit. The Crew out-hit the Marlins 10-8. Brewers’ third baseman Aramis Ramirez left in the ninth after hurting his lower back. He said it’s not serious – but he probably would not play in the series finale today. Brewers’ right-hander Marco Estrada will start against Marlins’ right-hander Josh Johnson. Coverage of today's game on WHBL begins this morning at 11:05.
