MADISON, Wis. (WHBL) - Unemployment rates in the city of Sheboygan and Sheboygan County both dropped during the month of September. The latest figures from the Department of Work Force Development put the county rate at 5.9 percent - down from 6.6 percent in August. The city rate last month was 7.2 percent compared to 7.9 in August. Despite the improved rate, the monthly report showed there were 800 fewer people working in the Sheboygan area last month compared to August. Statewide, the unemployment rate also decreased, from 7.5 to 7.3 percent.
