SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man, who had been charged with fleeing from police, took his case to a jury in Sheboygan County Court Tuesday - and won. 32 year old Joseph Appleton was charged in July after an officer spotted him driving away from a disturbance on North 4th Street at a high rate of speed. When the officer caught up to Appleton a few blocks away, he pulled over and told the officer he wasn’t fleeing - he was just trying to get away from the scene, where there were lots of crazy people. The jury watched the squad car video and heard from Appleton, who took the stand, and then deliberated for 3 hours before finding him not guilty.
