MANITOWOC, Wis. (WHBL) - A 49 year old Manitowoc man is in custody after allegedly killing his cat and dumping it into the Manitowoc river. Police say they received information Tuesday that the owner of the cat might be Michael Wasurik. Detectives interviewed Wasurik, who admitted that the cat was his pet. He also admitted that he wrapped the cat's head in duct tape to suffocate it, then "hog tied" it's legs together in duct tape. He then proceeded to drive the cat to the Manitowoc river Sunday morning and threw it into the river. The cat was discovered later Sunday evening by a pair of fishermen. Wasurik also confessed that he was having "suicidal thoughts" and took out his actions on the cat. Wasurik is in the Manitowoc County Jail and charged with a felony count of mistreating animals.
