UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (WHBL) - For the second week in a row, the Wisconsin Badgers scored late to tie a Big Ten Conference game, then fell in overtime. This time the final count was 24-21, as the Penn State Nittany Lions wrapped up an emotional season with an 8-4 record on a 37-yard field goal. That was the margin of victory when Badger kicker Kyle French’s 45-yard kick went wide left a few moments later. Badgers star running back Montee Ball rushed 27 times for 111 yards and an NCAA record-setting 79th touchdown. Senior quarterback Curt Phillips hit Jeff Duckworth with a four-yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds left to tie the score, but the late-game heroics weren’t enough. Instead, Wisconsin lost for the third time in the last four games, bringing a lackluster 7-5 record into the Big Ten Conference Championship game in Indianapolis against Nebraska next Saturday.
