BROOKFIELD, WI (WTAQ) - Close to 100 spas, salons, and beauty schools are about to raise money to help victims of the recent mass shootings at a spa in Brookfield.
Jan Seybold owns a spa that competes directly with the place where Radcliffe Haughton killed three people and wounded 4 others before he killed himself.
Seybold said she felt helpless when she heard about the slaying – and she wanted to help the victims at her competition. So next Tuesday, dozens of spas and salons will donate between 5 and 25 percent of their sales. Seybold says she hopes to raise $100,000 from the effort.
Salons in California, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York are taking part – along with places in Wisconsin.
Haughton opened fire at the Azana Salon and Spa in Brookfield on October 21st, when his estranged wife Zina was working there.
