SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A Sheboygan boy has been found competent to stand trial in the bludgeoning death of an elderly Sheboygan Falls woman last September. Judge Timothy Van Akkeren made that ruling this morning after receiving the results of a mental evaluation for 13 year old Antonio Barbeau. Barbeau and 13 year old Nathan Paape, also of Sheboygan, are charged with 1st degree murder in the death and robbery of 78 year old Barbara Olson in her home in Sheboygan Falls. She was Barbeau’s great grandmother. A reverse waiver hearing is set for January to decide if the case will get transferred from adult to juvenile court, where the boys would face substantially lighter penalties. The two factors that would determine that would be the severity of the crime, and where the boys would receive the best treatment. If the case stays in adult court, a week long jury trial has been set for March. The boys are being held in juvenile detention at the Sheboygan County Jail.
