SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) -A Sheboygan Falls man, believed to be a serial burglar, is in the county jail pending formal charges after being arrested last week while attempting to rob a home in the town of Sheboyan Falls. Captain Dave Adams said 62 year old Dennis Petrie was finally apprehended when a homeowner spotted Petrie’s truck parked behind a row of trees on his property and contacted authorities. When deputies arrived, they confronted him, then had to draw their weapons, before he would surrender. Detectives spent 4 days searching his property, where they seized over 60 firearms, jewelry, coins, and other items that had been taken from the homes of deceased victims, and others who were not home. Adams is looking for help from the community in this case. If you've rented Petrie a mini warehouse or allowed him to store items on your property, they'd like to know about it. If you've purchased items from Petrie, you're also asked to contact the Sheriff's Department. Adams says they’ve connected Petrie with 12 burglaries so far, and if you have any further information, you’re asked to call 459-3134.
