When did games get so intense? The Hunger Games has teenagers running around trying to kill each other. The HBO movie Game Change depicted a nation torn apart. And Game of Thrones...well, the new poster says it all. If you're not completely up to date on Thrones, the below image will give away a pretty huge spoiler (thank the Old Gods for the giant white void taking up the top half of the posteronly scrollers will be spoiled), so read no further.
But to those all caught up, the image just begs questions. Considering the mysterious glimpse of a living Ned Stark (Sean Bean) hiding away in a criminal wagon, post-decapitation, we're not really sure of the series' hero's fate. And we're also not too sure who else might find their heads as royal decoration. But on the softer side of the Thrones, we also have a lot of romance to look forward to, as indicated by the new trailer released earlier this week.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO Sunday, April 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
