HUDSON, WI (WTAQ) - The Wisconsin and Minnesota transportation departments will announce a management team Tuesday for the building of a new bridge over the St. Croix River near Hudson.
Officials will brief reporters. And then they’ll answer the public’s questions during an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Water Street Inn in Stillwater Minnesota.
The bridge had been debated and delayed for about a half-century. But that was before the U.S. House voted earlier this month to exempt the project from the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, thus allowing its construction.
President Obama is expected to sign the bill that both houses approved.
Both Wisconsin and Minnesota will pay for the new bridge. The total cost is expected to be around $620 million.
