MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has ordered a Milwaukee medical staffing company to pay a former worker $148,000.
HCS Medical Staffing had been accused of firing a woman who had just given birth.
The federal agency says the company’s owner made offensive comments about his bookkeeper’s pregnancy, then let her go when she needed to take maternity leave.
He was ordered to give her back pay, plus interest, along with compensatory and punitive damages.
He had been accused of firing her by certified mail while she was in a Milwaukee hospital recovering from a C-section.
