GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The ex-cemetery worker who stole a guitar from a casket is sentenced to a year in jail.

40-year-old Steven Conard pled no contest to the charges back in November.

Prosecutors say Conard stole a $2,000 guitar from a crypt, saying it was too valuable to be buried. The guitar was eventually returned.

In addition, Conard was sentenced to four years probation, 240 hours of community service and he must write a letter or apology to the victim’s family.
