UNDATED (WSAU) The new Miss America from Wisconsin says she'll go to law school after her one-year reign is up. But for now, Laura Kaeppeler of Kenosha is tied up with lots of travel and media appearances following her coronation on Saturday night.
She only the second Miss America from the Badger State. Terry Ann Meuwssen from De Pere won the crown in 1973 -- and she's surprised it took almost four decades for a Wisconsin contestant to win the title.
The 23-year-old Kaeppeler says her life has instantly changed since having the tiara put on her head in Las Vegas. And she calls her calendar a "lot of craziness." During the pageant, she stated her allegiance to the Green Bay Packers, and asked quarterback Aaron Rodgers to call her. That didn't happen, but she took time out Sunday to watch the Packers' playoff loss to the New York Giants. She called it a sad loss. Kaeppeler said she's going to the Super Bowl in Indianapolis next month -- and she was hoping to represent Wisconsin.
