SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - There could soon be another Charter School option in the Sheboygan Area School District. In March of 2011, St. Dominick’s school was informed that they would be closing at the end of the 2011-2012 school year. A group of concerned parents drew up a plan for a school that would provide an alternative for children from 4K through 8th grade, called Sheboygan Leadership Academy. Pending board approval, the school would have until April to secure the financing necessary to run the school, and their proposed 5 year budget shows they will not draw any funds from the district. The Sheboygan Area School Board heard from 5 members of the group at Tuesday night’s Committee Of The Whole Meeting, and is now seeking the support of the district to move forward in finding a location, and applying for a Charter School Grant by August 1st.
