Packers End Regular Season With Wild Win

GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) - With Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines, Packers reserve quarterback Matt Flynn threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns as Green Bay outscored the Detroit Lions 45-41 on Sunday.  Flynn’s TD pass to Jermichael Finley with just over a minute to go iced the victory.  The Packers finished the season with a 15-1 record entering the playoffs.  They needed everything Flynn could given them, because Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was having a pretty good afternoon as well.  He threw for 520 yards and five touchdowns as Detroit tried to better its playoff position.  Number crunchers report it’s the first time in NFL history that opposing quarterbacks both threw for more than 400 yards and at least five touchdowns each.  The 971 net passing yards broke a record set earlier this season.  Jordy Nelson caught nine passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns.  For Detroit, Calvin Johnson caught 11 balls for 244 yards and one score.  Titus Young was on the receiving end of two scoring passes.

The Packers have a bye in the opening round of the playoffs this coming weekend.  The Packers first playoff game will be on Sunday, January 15th, at 3:30pm.  The Packers will host the lowest-seeded survivor of Wild Card weekend in the NFC.
