Badgers Overcome Slow Start, Beat UWGB

MADISON, WI (WHBL) - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team overcame a slow start to beat U-W Green Bay Wednesday night, 65-54 in Madison.  The Badgers missed nine of their first 10 shots, and Green Bay led 19-12 midway through the first half.  But Wisconsin had a 15-4 run to close out the half – and they went on a 12-4 run to open the second half.  The Badgers led by as many as 16. Green Bay cut the lead to under 10 with eight minutes left, but could not get any closer. S enior Ryan Evans led Wisconsin with 13 points – and he got the Badger crowd going when he made his first two free throws.  He had only made 1 of 12 foul shots in his last two games.  Badgers’ forward Mike Bruesewitz missed his second straight game, after getting a concussion at practice a week ago. Keifer Sykes scored 14 for U-W Green Bay, which fell to 3-6.  The Badgers will now have 10 days off to deal with their final exams for the semester.
