Badgers Roll Over Nebraska-Omaha

MADISON, WI (WHBL) - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team had a 36-7 run in the first half Tuesday night, in pounding Nebraska-Omaha 86-40 in Madison. The Badgers led by 42 points when coach Bo Ryan pulled his final starter off the floor with four minutes left.  But the reserves kept extending the lead.  Omaha did not do itself any favors, as it committed 19 turnovers.  The Mavericks only shot 22-percent in the first half while the Badgers were hitting at a 50-percent clip. Ben Brust led Wisconsin with his fourth double-double of the season. The junior guard had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman forward Sam Dekker scored in double figures for the fifth time this season, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.  But the Badgers only hit 10-of-16 free throws, and they’re shooting just 66-percent from the charity stripe on the season. Justin Simmons had 12 points for Nebraska-Omaha, which dropped to 2-8.  Wisconsin improved to 6-3, and will play at Marquette on Saturday.
