SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - There’s already a race shaping up for the office of Sheboygan Mayor. Incumbent Terry Van Akkeren announced today that he will seek re-election in April. And yesterday, former County Board Chairman Mike Vandersteen took out nomination papers for the office. In making his announcement this morning, Van Akkeren said he’s proud of the many positive things that have happened during the past 9 months since he won the recall election. He cited the agreement on Joint dispatch, the Sheboygan River Dredging, and working to keep the south side Piggly Wiggly open. Vandersteen said today that his campaign will emphasize several things including investing in the infrastructure, neighborhood safety and progress by teamwork. Candidates have until January 2nd to turn in nomination papers.
