SAN DIEGO, CA (WHBL) - You might not see much from either starting quarterback tonight, when the Green Bay Packers play at San Diego in their exhibition opener. That’s because both starting left tackles are out with injuries, and back-ups will try to protect the quarterbacks’ blind-sides. Marshall Newhouse is out after getting a concussion six days ago, and he’s one of 15 injured Packers who definitely won’t play tonight. Chargers’ left tackle Jared Gaither is out with a back problem. As a result, quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay and Philip Rivers of San Diego might go a little less. Starters normally play about a quarter in their first pre-season games. The Packers only have one starting spot that’s truly up for grabs – and that’s at right corner, where Jarrett Bush and Davon House are the top candidates. That will give the coaches a chance to get a long look at several backups in a game atmosphere. Second-string quarterback Graham Harrell is expected to get a lot of playing time tonight. And the coaches want to see how linebacker Dezman Moses performs, after he became an unexpected standout at training camp. Kickoff is set for 7pm with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5pm.
