MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers swept the division-leading Cincinnati Reds Wednesday afternoon with a 3-2, come from behind victory at Miller Park. The Brewers trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth when Carlos Gomez hit an R-B-I single to tie the game. Gomez then stole second, and Ryan Braun doubled to score Gomez with the winning run. Rookie Jim Henderson then picked up his second save in as many days, with a walk and two strikeouts in the ninth. John Axford got the victory by pitching a scoreless eighth. He’s now 4-6. Dioner Navarro opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the third. Gomez belted a solo shot in the sixth. Jonathan Broxton took the loss in relief. Brewers’ starter Randy Wolf struck out seven in six innings, giving up two runs on six hits with a pair of walks. Mat Latos went seven innings for the Reds, giving up a run on three hits with a walk and eight K’s. It was the fourth straight loss for Cincinnati. Milwaukee, meanwhile, has won a season-high six straight at home. The Brew Crew is off Thursday and will open a weekend series at Houston on Friday night.
