UNDATED (WRN) A new poll indicates Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senate primary race has become a three way toss-up.
Public Policy Polling says hedge fund manager Eric Hovde leads the Republican contest with 28 percent, while former Governor Tommy Thompson and former Congressman Mark Neumann both have 25 percent support. The three percent difference is within the poll’s 4.9 percent margin of error, leaving all three candidates in a statistical dead heat for the lead.
The fourth Republican in the race, Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, trails with 13 percent.Of those responding, nine percent remain undecided with the primary less than two weeks away.
Public Policy Polling surveyed 400 likely Republican primary voters over the past two days. Neumann has gained 10 points since the firm’s last poll on the Wisconsin Senate race in early July. Thompson’s and Hovde’s support have both dropped slightly.
