SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - Two Sheboygan men have been charged with theft after allegedly taking items from two Sheboygan businesses and attempting to sell them as scrap. Ian Progar and Michael Dirks, both 26, of Sheboygan, were formally charged with felony theft and misdemeanor theft after surveillance video captured them unloading toolboxes, bumpers, an insulation blower, skid loader forks, and other metal from two Sheboygan businesses last Saturday. According to the criminal complaint, when officers spoke with the two, they admitted that they had been scrapping together for a few weeks, and usually took the metal - which they believed to be junk - to a recycling center for cash. The value of the equipment stolen was over $3,000, and each faces up to 4 years in prison if convicted.
