MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The final, official total is in.
Wisconsin state officials spent just under $200,000 to clean up and restore the Capitol after last year’s huge demonstrations. The expense to clean walls, re-seed the grass and pay for a consultant was substantial, but was less than three percent of the early guess from Governor Scott Walker’s administration. The first estimation was up to seven and a half million dollars in damage was done.
The majority of the cost for the state was nine million dollars to cover the expense of law enforcement officers from all over the state come to Madison to provide security.
