Jimmy Howard stopped 25 shots to lead Detroit to a 2-to-0 win over Vancouver last night at Joe Louis Arena. Justin Abdelkader and Valtteri Filppula each had a goal for the Red Wings, who improved to 3-and-0 on the young season and posted their second consecutive shutout. Cory Schneider made 35 saves for the Canucks, who slipped to 1-2-and-1. Tomorrow night, it’s Detroit at Minnesota.
