KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A 21-year-old Kalamazoo man was shot in the head as he sat in a car on Woodbury just before 11pm Monday. The car then proceeded down the street and came to a stop when it hit a home on Ada Street, causing minimal damage.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to numerous reports of gunshots and PSO Joseph Paul noticed a car fleeing the scene and gave chase. After the vehicle finally stopped, the driver fled the scene on foot.
The passenger, a 22 year old from Detroit, was arrested for assault with intent to murder and multiple gun felonies. The driver was chased down and arrested for fleeing and eluding and resisting. They were both lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
The victim is in stable condition at Bronson Hospital.
It’s the third shooting in that area in the last four months.
On June 23, a 19-year-old was shot in the leg during a drive by shooting, at Ada and Burell, a block away. On August 27, Dewan Holliman, 25, was killed when a bullet hit him in the chest, and a second man was wounded at that same intersection.
Kentre Ford, 19, has been bound over to stand trial for that crime. It’s not clear if there is any connection between the shootings, other than the location.
