MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Milwaukee police officers will keep riding their bicycles, even though five have been injured in the last month.

All the injuries were suffered while the officers were on the beat.

The latest incident was last weekend, but police administrators say they’re not considering pulling the bike patrols. All last year only two bike officers were injured.

The department says this year’s accidents have all been caused by drunk drivers or people just not paying attention.

In each case, the officer who was hit while riding a bicycle was in uniform and on patrol.
