DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) - Only 37-percent of Wisconsinites approve of the job their state legislators are doing. But that’s up from April, when the Wisconsin Public Radio-Saint Norbert College poll showed a 32-percent approval rating. Back then, the ink was just getting dry on the law majority Republicans passed which virtually ended collective bargaining for most public employee unions. The new Public Radio poll this month shows that 48-percent of Wisconsin adults disapprove of the job lawmakers are doing. But that’s lavish praise compared to federal lawmakers in Washington. Only 23-percent of Wisconsinites approve of the job Congress is doing – and that’s up from 18-percent last fall. Also, the poll said 35-percent approve of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and 37-percent disapprove. A number of Wisconsin cities have had Occupy rallies. Whitewater is the latest today.
