MADISON, Wis. (WHBL) - A bill to give more protection to police officers and jailers, which was authored by two Sheboygan legislators, has been signed into law. The Law Enforcement Injury bill was authored by Senator Joe Leibham and Assemblyman Mike Endsley. It expands the definition of injury to an officer, which can be considered a felony. The need came to light after a Manitowoc police officer suffered a knee injury while arresting a suspect and authorities discovered it wasn’t covered under the old law.
