HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) - A judge in Hillsdale could decide today if a controversial case involving a Quincy high school student will sent to Circuit Court for trial. Seventeen-year old Mitchell Landis is charged with two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
His arrest sparked interest after Landis was allowed to continue playing on the Quincy football team in spite of the alleged crime that he’s accused of committing against a Hillsdale girl at a party back in August.
Quincy school officials refused to back away from their policy that Landis remain eligible for football, stressing he’s innocent until proven guilty. His District Court preliminary exam was originally scheduled for September 14th but delayed for a month and then adjourned again until this afternoon.
