REESEVILLE, Wis (WSAU) Two people are dead after a railroad crossing accident in Reeseville in Dodge County. Their car was struck by a passing Amtrak train.
Police say the driver and passenger were in a 1992 Ford Ranger. They reportedly tried to go around the down crossing gate. The victim's names have not been released.
The equipment that controls the crossing gates was destroyed in the fire that followed. Trains will travel at reduced speed through the area until repairs are made.

Meanwhile, three people are dead after a crash that followed a high speed police chase in LaCrosse County. A sheriffs deputy tried to pull a car over for an equipment violation in the Town of Mendoro. Instead the car sped off.
The deputy lost sight of the vehicle on County Highway T, and then came upon a crash about 2-miles later near Farmington. The vehicle had rolled over several times, and all three occupants had been ejected. They were all pronounced dead at the scene.
No names have been released, and the case is still under investigation.
