MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A bishop at a store-front church in Milwaukee is scheduled to go on trial next month for molesting a teenage girl in his congregation.

60-year-old Joe Willie Fox Sr. is charged with one felony count of first-degree child sexual assault, and 5 felony counts of second-degree child sex assault.

Court records show that Fox allegedly had sexual contact with the girl numerous times for two years starting when she was 13. Officials said he paid the girl $50 to $100 for each encounter.

The case came to light when the girl mentioned some of the instances to her grandmother.

According to police, Fox initially claimed the girl extorted money and gifts from him – but he denied having sex with her.

A pre-trial hearing in Fox’s case is set for Thursday. A jury trial is set for June 6th.
