MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - For the 20th month in a row, Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport has set a new record for passengers.
County Executive Chris Abele said just over 844,000 people flew in and out of Wisconsin’s largest airport in April.
That’s at least partially because of low fares, caused by competition between Air Tran, Frontier, and Southwest Airlines.
Federal data showed that Milwaukee’s average air fares were $78 less than the national average late last year, and $98 less than at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
