UNDATED (WSAU)- Authorities from both the U.S. and Canada are looking for a small plane that apparently crashed in Lake Huron while on its way to Eau Claire. Officials said there were no signs of the craft as of late last night.
The Coast Guard said the pilot of a two-seat Cessna 150-F reported engine problems late yesterday afternoon about 30 miles east of Bad Axe in northern Michigan. And dispatchers lost communication shortly afterward. The Coast Guard sent a chopper crew from Detroit and a boat from Harbor Beach to look for the missing aircraft. A C-130 plane from the Canadian Coast Guard was provided for the search, along a plane and vessels from local agencies.
The 45-year-old plane was registered to a man from Gouverneur, New York. Officials said it took off from that community, and Eau Claire was its final destination.
