WASHINGTON (WSAU) Freshman Congressman Sean Duffy says he is opposed to new gun control measures in the aftermath of the Tuscon shooting that left six dead and 14 wounded. Duffy says it's a deranged person who caused the carnage, not guns themselves.
Duffy says a small group of newly elected conservatives held an informal meeting just after the shooting and promised to oppose new anti-gun legislation.
New York republican Carolyn McCarthy says she'll introduce a bill that would limit high-ammunition gun-clips. The one used in the Arizona attack could hold 31-bullets. The gunman used them all, and was attempting to reload when he was tackled by a group of bystanders.
