MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - As 2010 was ending, real estate sales in the Milwaukee area were on the way up.
That trend didn’t keep the year’s home sales figures from dropping when compared to 2009.
Housing statistics released Monday by Metro MLS, Incorporated, shows December sales 3.5 percent higher than the same month in 2009. The group says the 2009 numbers were low after the federal homebuyer tax credit had been extended and expanded.
Home buyers didn’t do much that month, knowing they could come back as this year was starting. Despite the optimistic end to home buying in 2010, sales figures were actually down 13.4 percent for the year as a whole.
