CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WTAQ) - Donors have helped a Chippewa Falls church make up for some of the thousands of dollars it lost to a thief at Christmas.
Somebody took the money in a burglary at St. Charles Borromeo Church, right after 6 services were held during the Christmas weekend. Some of it was supposed to go an orphanage near Lima Peru.
Donors gave more than $15,000 after hearing about the burglary. And First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire matched $4,000, making the grand total around $20,000.
Pastor William Felix and others presented checks for the orphanage Thursday to the missions’ office of the La Crosse Catholic Diocese.
Up to $6,000 of what was stolen was intended for the orphans in Peru. No arrests have been made.
