GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Notre Dame Academy is coming under fire for it's student choir's song choice for Governor Scott Walker's inauguration.

Milwaukee radio talker Mark Belling is questioning the Green Bay school's motive, wondering if the school tried to "sandbag" the inauguration by singing a, "hippie song."

The 22 student choir opened with the 1960's hit "The Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,".

Belling also noted Governor Scott Walker's representatives said they did "not clear" the song choice and were surprised by it.

The school's choir director, Teresa Schmidt, says it's untrue and the song was cleared by one of Walker's aides. Schmidt feels this has been taken way out of context.

They decided to perform that particular song because if was one of the best song choices from their winter concert.

“It was the songs we were ready to perform well, that we thought would be enjoyed, that would be appropriate to all audiences in that it was a very positive, upbeat song,” Schmidt told FOX 11. “We weren’t looking to offend anyone at all.”
