ROTHSCHILD, WI (WTAQ) - A 77-year-old Wausau area man who was killed at the end of a long police chase had Alzheimer’s disease. Relatives told Rothschild Police that Fred Abel drove from his home around 2:15 this morning, after making some comments about dying. Police said they tried to stop Abel – but after chasing him for 10 miles, his car slammed into a tree east of Wausau on Marathon County Trunk “Z.”
