LAKE CITY, MN (WTAQ) - Authorities said a western Wisconsin man shot and critically wounded a police officer today in Lake City Minnesota during a stand-off at a residence. As of mid-afternoon, it was believed that the suspect was still armed inside the house. Lake City Police Chief Gary Majchrzak said the officer was shot after responding to a domestic disturbance – and the suspected shooter was thought to go back inside the house – and officers had no contact with the man after that. The chief identified the suspect as 25-year-old Alan Sylte Junior of Hager City, Wisconsin. At last word, the male officer he allegedly shot was hospitalized in critical condition at a hospital in Rochester Minnesota. His name was not immediately released because his children were at school – police wanted to tell them in person. Authorities said all Lake City schools would be locked down until the standoff is resolved.
