SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - Two of the ten candidates in the running for the mayoral election turned in their nomination papers on Wednesday. Terry Van Akkeren issued a press release, saying he’s turned in nearly 300 signatures - more than the number required to be placed on the ballot. City Clerk Sue Richards said that Mark Hermann also turned in his papers, but is short a few signatures, so he’ll continue to collect more. Meanwhile, another Sheboygan resident has announced his candidacy for mayor. Erik Neave took out papers Wednesday morning, leaving him with under a week to collect the more than 200 signatures necessary to be placed on the ballot. The recall election against Mayor Bob Ryan is scheduled for January 17th.
