UNDATED (WSAU) Two local efforts helped to fill area food pantries.
WSAW-TV says the number of canned foods donated by parade-goers in Wausau was up from a year ago. Channel seven staff walked the parade route with shopping carts for donations from the crowd. Parade crowds were much larger on Friday night, in part thanks to mild weather.
And the Wausau Daily Herald's 'Stock The Shelves' food drive saw an increase in donations. They raised more than $13,000, and qualified for a $10,000 matching grant from the Greenheck Foundation. The donations will go to food pantries in Marathon and Lincoln Counties.
