TLC Gets New Reality Series, 'Candy Queen'

After realizing that they weren't doing a good enough job teaching you about what reality is really like by airing programs like Little People, Big World, My Strange Addiction, 19 Kids and Counting, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and (my personal favorite) I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant, TLC has announced its plans to enhance its programming schedule by adding a new show called Candy Queen into the mix. The show revolves around Jackie Sorkin, who operates a company called The Hollywood Candy Girls, and will focus on her efforts to balance being a wife and a mother while encouraging the growth of her business. This all makes sense, because having women in the workplace is still so fascinating, and the concept that a mother can think about something other than her husband or her children is still so enigmatic and surrounded in skepticism that we must see a woman in action if we are to believe it's a possible feat!

Apparently, The Hollywood Candy Girls are very well known in Southern California for their ""over the top"" work with candy, and for their talents in making their clients' candy-coated wishes come true. TLC's SVP of Production & Development, Howard Lee, explains ""Candy Queen joins TLC's larger-than-life workplace series. Like Cake Boss and LA Ink, [the series reveals] the mouthwatering art of Jackie's business and the sweet and sour side of balancing a career, a family, and everything else."" In other words, this show will have Jackie running around a bakery (or candy...land?), with flour on her face and red dye number 8 on her fingers, and then all of a sudden her husband will call her and ask if she can pick up some chicken for dinner because he's running off to a meeting and can't make it to the store on time. And just as Jackie sends one of her minions to Boston Market (they're everywhere, you know), her kid's teacher calls and says her daughter got into an argument with another student, and so now Jackie has to go to school to pick up her daughter. And oh -- did the teacher forget to mention that Jackie's daughter stuck her finger too far up her nose and now it's stuck? Because that happened too. And so as Jackie rushes off to school, she's fretting because who's going to finish all the swirly gumdrops that the executives ordered for their retreat that includes golfing (even though they told their wives there would be no golfing) if not for her? Everything's just a catastrophe for Jackie, and your main job is to laugh, I guess, because it's her own fault that she's a woman and working and apparently, TLC thinks she should know better.
